Wisdom is...

Scrolling through Twitter led to feeling overwhelmed; the nonsensical, corrupt, childish, irresponsible and, in some places, inappropriate actions being shown and promoted made me feel nauseous. God! How do I pray? What do I declare? What is your viewpoint? What is your stance?

In response I heard “WISDOM.”

This led me on a search of what wisdom is and what it looks like. Here is some of what I discovered:

Proverbs 9:11-12 TPT Wisdom will extend your life, making every year more fruitful than the one before. So it is to your advantage to be wise. But to ignore the counsel of wisdom is to invite trouble into your life.

Proverbs 9:10 NASB The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

James 1:5-8 NASB But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

James 3:17-18 TPT But the wisdom from above is always pure, filled with peace, considerate and teachable. It is filled with love and never displays prejudice or hypocrisy in any form and it always bears the beautiful harvest of righteousness! Good seeds of wisdom’s fruit will be planted with peaceful acts by those who cherish making peace.

How do I live it out?

James 1:19-20 TPT Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry, for human anger is never a legitimate tool to promote God’s righteous purpose.

Proverbs 10:8 TPT The heart of the wise will easily accept instruction. But those who do all the talking are too busy to listen and learn. They’ll just keep stumbling ahead into the mess they created.

My quest reminded me of a conversation with an adorable five year old. He does not like to be called “silly” when doing wacky things... “it means ‘lack of wisdom’ Ms. Dena, I am wise. I prefer goofy.” Well put Ethan.

My prayer: May our world be wise. May wisdom prevail. May anger be quieted, ears opened, voices lowered, and conversations commence. May we seek to understand and hear the heart behind the words and actions and violence. May we be patient and kind, empathetic, and open to other opinions and viewpoints outside our own. May we see God in the circumstances (because he is there), call him out, to the forefront, where he belongs. May his will, his word, his love proliferate, cover, coat, converge everything. In the name of JESUS, evil flee, righteousness reign, wisdom prevail, and calm come.
