Precious

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are God’s chosen treasure - priests who are kings...”

The Hebrew word is ségulla, which means “a special treasure” (possession). It is used to describe “guarded wealth,” indicating the placement of the king’s jewels, treasures, etc., in a safe, protected place because of their extraordinary value. God says that each believer is a priest and king, his unique and special treasure of great importance—a treasure above all other treasures. TPT footnote.

Another reminder; I am guarded. I am safe. I am protected. I do not need to fear if I am listening to His heart and following His lead.

When I think of treasure, I see gemstones, sparkling, pure, unmarked, gleaming under spotlights... their glimmer and shimmer affecting the atmosphere around them.

God views us as His treasure... In response I say:

Give me understanding [a teachable heart and the ability to learn], that I may keep Your law; And observe it with all my heart.” Psalms 119:34 AMP

1 Peter 2:8 AMP

“...they stumble because they disobey the word [of God]...”

Deuteronomy 28:1 AMP

“Now it shall be, if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all of His commandments which I am commanding you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.”

1 Samuel 15:22 AMP

“Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obedience to the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed [is better] than the fat of rams.

Mark 12:28-34 AMP

“Then one of the scribes [an expert in Mosaic Law] came up and listened to them arguing [with one another], and noticing that Jesus answered them well, asked Him, “Which commandment is first and most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The first and most important one is: ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL, THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL (life), AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND (thought, understanding), AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ This is the second: ‘YOU SHALL [unselfishly] LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to Him, “Admirably answered, Teacher; You truthfully stated that HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NO OTHER BUT HIM; AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND WITH ALL THE STRENGTH, AND TO [unselfishly] LOVE ONE’S NEIGHBOR AS ONESELF, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he answered thoughtfully and intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one would dare to ask Him any more questions.”

God protects His priceless treasure; the purified, the holy, the set apart ones. Cleanse yourself of all unrighteousness, accept his son’s sacrifice, set your heart to follow His and He will do as He has promised. Be the sparkling, pure, unmarked, gleaming gemstone under a spotlight of His love, His attention, His care...glimmer, shimmer, shine; affect the atmosphere, the society, the culture around you.
