Good news travels fast; bad news even faster. The frustrating, the painful, the irritating, the concerning are shared readily, easily and, sometimes, frantically.
Good news eventually catches up; usually after a struggle, some learning, adjustment and change. God always seems to right a situation… always.
But, the struggle, the adapting, the strife is real - and often painful and life changing. In this last season I have been privy to many, many requests for prayer; deep intimate items, transformative situations, life and death predicaments. It has been humbling, and sometimes hard to intercede due to the gravity. I just cry instead.
“God, what do I say? What do I do? Where do I go? How do I help?”
Exodus 14:14 has shown up over and over and over again. Here it is in several versions:
The Lord will fight for you, and there is no need for you to do anything. (GNB)
The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm. (AMP)
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. (NKJV)
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. (NIV)
No striving. No fighting. No manipulating. No making things happen. Just peace. Abiding. Trusting. Relating. Spending time with the one who can fix, change, alter, move it all.
I have so many requests and petitions on my heart I can not voice them all. My heart is heavy and yet I can not speak or be moved to share all I carry. I meet his eyes and he KNOWS. He feels. He is aware. He shares his peace with me and I share it with others who are unable to attain it due to their mind space, thought patterns, and situation.
God, give me more of you. More of your presence. More of your peace. More of your character and abilities so I may comfort, strengthen, heal, and embolden your people. Lord, teach them that they too can carry your peace everyday, everywhere, always.
Numbers 6: 24-26 AMP (thank you Ana Werner for the reminder)
The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you];
The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor],
And be gracious to you [surrounding you with loving kindness];
The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],
And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].
