Pearls before Swine

Updated: Nov 5

In today’s culture right is wrong, wrong is right, acceptable, commonplace and pushed in the media, news, and socially.

If you stand for what the Bible says, for righteousness, for purity - of thought, of mind, of heart - you hear racial slurs, are labeled a bigot, close-minded, narrow focused, exclusive and full of some kind of privilege. The message is pearls, priceless, redeeming, saving, restoring thrown before swine and is trampled underneath and disregarded for the treasure it really is.

Paul wrote to Titus of something similar. “It’s true that all is pure to those who have pure hearts, but to the corrupt unbelievers nothing is pure. Their minds and consciences are defiled. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are disgusting, disobedient, and disqualified from doing anything good.” Titus 2:1

So, what do we do? Paul says “Your duty is to teach them to embrace a lifestyle that is consistent with sound doctrine.” Titus 2:1 TPT

Um, ok. How? Pearls. Swine. Trampling.

Paul continues, “Above all, set yourself apart as a model of a life nobly lived. With dignity, demonstrate integrity in all that you teach. Bring a clear, wholesome message that cannot be condemned, and then your critics will be embarrassed, with nothing bad to say...God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone. This same grace teaches us how to live each day as we turn our backs on ungodliness and indulgent lifestyles, and it equips us to live self-controlled, upright, godly lives in this present age.” Titus 2:7-8, 11-12 TPT

“...avoid useless controversies, genealogies, pointless quarrels, and arguments over the law, which will get you nowhere. After a first and second warning, have nothing more to do with a divisive person who refuses to be corrected. For you know that such a one is entwined with his sin and stands self-condemned.” Titus 3:9-11 TPT

“The prophecy of Isaiah describes them perfectly: Although they listen carefully to everything...they don’t understand a thing...They look and pretend to see, but the eyes of their hearts are closed. Their minds are dull and slow to perceive, their ears are plugged and are hard of hearing, and they have deliberately shut their eyes to the truth. Otherwise they would open their eyes to see, and open their ears to hear, and open their minds to understand. Then they would turn to me (Jesus) and let me instantly heal them. But your eyes are privileged, for they see. Delighted are your ears, for they are open to hear all these things.” Matthew 13:14-16 TPT

Hear. Receive. Be Healed. Model. Less words. Dignity. Integrity. Be the example you want to see.
