Seek and Find

Joe and I hang out a lot with the young adults at our church… the 20 and 30 somethings have children the same age as Emily so it was a natural shift. What we didn’t intend was becoming mentors, listening ears, counselors… we dropped into a ministry without even looking for one.

What is really fun is seeing them awaken to who God is, who they are, and what Jesus has done for them - their true reality. As they delve, discover and discern their inheritance - as they repent and replace the old with the new their true identities shine. Boldness for timidity, confidence for shyness, assurance for insecurity - it has happened over and over and over again.

One of my favorites is a 20 year old who had already attained a university degree and was a bit lost on what do do next in life. Law school? Teaching? Something else? She was searching for her next steps and arrived at one of our Young Adult open houses.

She plugged into a small group. She started asking questions, taking different women from the church out to coffee and mining for information, stories, details of their walk with Christ. She was seeking and she found. She discovered Christ in a way she had never seen or known before, she forsook everything else and eagerly pursued HIM. And it showed.

Her inputs changed. She feasted on God focused, God based, God oriented topics, books, conferences and conversation. Gone were the mind distracting movies, music, programs, TV and the activities. She sought the glorious and attained glory.

It is humbling for me to behold. These young adults inspire me. They engage me. They fuel me to be better, do better, go deeper, seek for the MORE. I am constantly humbled by their aspirations, revelations and discoveries. They are on FIRE.

It is Matthew 6:33 in action:

“But first and most importantly seek (am at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right - the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” AMP
