Bitterness is Expensive

Has the ease of life lifted? Feeling irritable? Frustrated?
Have things been “sticky” where they weren’t before? Maybe God’s grace has been partially, or fully, lifted.
I was today years old when I realized bitterness can cancel God’s grace in our lives. Hebrews 12:15 defines the cause-effect relationship:
“See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no ‘root of bitterness’ springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled” ESV
“Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.” NLT
“Guard against turning back from the grace of God. Let no one become like a bitter plant that grows up and causes many troubles with its poison. GNT
Harboring animosity? Incubating enmity? Feeling embittered or entitled? Does resentment reign? Choose to hang out in the enemies camp, adopt the oppositions mindset and God’s grace goes away. It lifts. Flees. Floats off. I don’t know about you, but that’s a trade I don’t want to make.
Politics, inflation, gas prices, unkind drivers, sarcasm and mockery poke at us all day everyday. Disunity, irritation, frustration, resentment, anger, bitterness, envy, and strife is rampant. I NEED God’s grace to be able to swim in all the muck, to let it slide past and not mark me.
Bitterness, resentment, enmity you have no place in my life – you are too expensive!
